Participation in the IAHSFF can be made by one or more of the following ways:
- Oral and/or poster presentation
- Film presentation (films, documentaries, training and short videos)
- Participating organization (universities, NGOs, charities etc)
- Exhibition (memorabilia and art collections etc)
- Sponsors (companies that want to advertise their products and services)
- Attendance (as adult or student delegate)
All submission should be made in English. In order to consider your application for inclusion in the IAHSFF, full registration needs to be made. To register, please click here and follow the instructions. Please read the following six paragraphs to know how to participate:
1. Oral and Poster Presentation
- Abstracts should demonstrate substantial knowledge related to aquatic history. General aquatic history and cultural diversity topics are encouraged.
- In your email, please indicate whether you wish to present your work e.g., (a) orally or (b) by poster. Please also indicate if, in case your abstract will be accepted, you are willing to submit a full paper (4000 words max) for the IAHSFF Book.
- Abstracts (500 words max) will be accepted until February 20, 2012. The Program Committee will review the abstracts following the submission closing dates.
- You may submit more than one abstract.
- A decision will be send to the corresponding author about whether the study was accepted or not, and whether it will be included in the IAHSFF Book as abstract or full paper. In case where the study has been accepted and authors are willing to submit the full paper, then they should use the same format with the abstract submission and the APA referencing style (5th edition).
- Please submit your abstact (and/or full paper on a later stage) based on the Abstract Submission Guidelines for Oral and Poster Presentations by email at elagreece@gmail.com.
2. Participation as Film Presenter
- Film submission may be in the form of feature, documentary, training or short film related to the general topic of aquatics (e.g., swimming, surfing, SCUBA, paddle boarding, lifesaving, water safety etc., in addition to Olympic swimming sports).
- Proposals will be accepted until February 20, 2012. The Program Committee will review the abstracts following the submission closing dates.
- Please fill in the Submission Guidelines for a Film Presentation.
- The submission is based on a two stage process. First, please send the above document by email at elagreece@gmail.com. Second, two (2) DVD copies that would contain the film should be posted to the following address: International Swimming Hall of Fame, One Hall of Fame Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, USA. In both stages, a cover letter should indicate that “this film is submitted for review and consideration for presentation in the International Aquatic History Symposium & Film Festival”.
3. Participating Organizations
- This category applies to academic institutions and non-governing institutions (e.g., universities, organizations that have an interest in social, cultural or sports history, lifesaving, public health, aquatics, cinematography, literature etc).
- Demonstrate your support of the mission, aims and objectives of ISHOF and IAHSFF.
- Benefits: Participating organizations will receive one conference registration, access to full contact information for attendees, recognition at the welcome reception speech, notification to all FINA member nations through our newsletters about the event, recognition on the IAHSFF book and the IAHSFF webpage and an opportunity to showcase their services to the world of aquatics during our honoree annual induction ceremony.

4. Participation as Exhibitor
- This category applies to those interested in exhibiting memorabilia or collectibles.
- Benefits: Exhibitors will receive one conference registration, access to full contact information for attendees, recognition at the welcome reception speech, notification to all FINA member nations through our newsletters about the event, recognition on the IAHSFF book and the IAHSFF webpage and an opportunity to showcase their services to the world of aquatics during our honoree annual induction ceremony.

5. Participation as Sponsor
- This category applies to those interested in exhibiting merchandise, books, products or services.
- Benefits: Exhibitors will receive one conference registration, access to full contact information for attendees, recognition at the welcome reception speech, notification to all FINA member nations through our newsletters about the event, recognition on the IAHSFF Book and the IAHSFF webpage, a copy of the IAHSFF Book and the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the world of aquatics during our honoree annual induction ceremony.

6. Participation as Attendant
- If you are a student of history, journalist, athlete, coach, lifesaver, first aider, lifeguard, physical educator, doctor, cinema lover, an aquatics enthusiast or either parents who engage their children into an aquatic sport, then IAHSFF is a must-to-attend event for you.
- Participation to the conference will be made on a first-come first-served basis, and therefore, to reserve your place, you must make an early registration.
- Benefits: participation in all the activities of the IAHSFF (oral and poster presentations, film festival), a free entry into the museum, a copy of the IAHSFF Book and a certificate of participation will be provided.
